I could not rent the car as the credit card machine could not read the chip on my credit card. I walked to a nearby Avis rent-a-car where my credit card was accepted.

Pros:

Hertz was very professional and efficient. Simple in and out process. I dealt with three employees in total and one was more helpful than the next. Good group of guys.

The location is a bit cramped.

Once I got past the hard sell at the checkin/rental desk, all went well. Had a nice Camry with less than 20,000 miles. Return was easy; no issues. Would rent from Dollar at PDX again.

The service particularly the personnel were spot on however the car is rather old about five years outdated and there were obvious repair marks on the body

The car was not available an hour after scheduled pick up and the line was too long for me to wait as I had movers waiting for me at my home. I asked the person at the front counter what I could do and they told me I would have to wait. No ETA or timeline offered. After I left, I checked back to see if it was available that afternoon-still no car available. Even an hour before my scheduled drop-off it said that the car was not yet available online. Worst experience working with a rental car company ever.

The car booked was not available. I had to take a cab to an alternate location, where I was provided a smaller vehicle than the one booked. Plus the rental started later than booked

Hidden costs and no mention anywhere in t&c about excess being $5900 which meant we had to buy insurance with dollar (ours only covered $5k excess). Ended up costing more than 2x “total”.

Emailed to say they didn’t have the option I selected and wanted a deposit to book a different car without any details.

They did not have my reservation and blamed Kayak. They tried to upsell me another car for $100 more and force me to pay insurance even though I have local insurance, international insurance, and insurance via my credit card.

I didn't get my car-location was closed the time i got there after 12 noon. tried to call customer service and there was no one answered my call. It's hard to routing the call as well.
