Pros:

The first car smelled like smoked and I was able to quickly get another car.

Cons:

I called a couple of days before mentioning I wouldn’t be able to pick up the car till the next day. As I wouldn’t be able to park the rental anywhere for the night. I asked if the charges would be the same and the person I spoke to said they would be able to fix the charges once I got there. The person I spoke to said they would make a note of it. Once I get to Hertz the person who is present says there isn’t a note. The person isn’t pleasant as I try to figure out what is going on. I am charged the same amount as if I picked it up the night prior. Overall experience at hertz lacked customer service.

Cons:

Hertz employees not wearing masks, car was dirty on the outside and I was not convinced that it had been properly sanitized and disinfected prior to me driving it. I brought my own Lysol and wipes and had to clean it down in order to give myself some peace of mind.

When when I called a Alexandria, VA Hertz I told the gentlemen I was running late (about 11:40) I expressed my concerns for being charged an extra day and fees. He said I would not as long as it’s dropped offs. He mentioned he would be in the office Sunday. In addition, I called the Hertz toll free customer service while at the drop-off location to further explain. They only recommended dropping off the keys and recording the mileage on the rental agreement. My main concern is being charged additional days and fees.

We were delighted with the vehicle we received! It was clean, well-maintained, had lots of amenities, and an outstanding deal for the price! The staff were polite, friendly, answered our questions, and went out of their way to ensure the rental arrangements fit our needs. We will DEFINITELY be recommending Budget to everyone and using Budget again in the future. Thank you!

Pros:

Having never rented a car I wasn't sure of the whole process or cost but it ended up working out great! I was able to tap into a special so the price was right and the car (compact/small 4-door) was as expected. The only thing that concerned me was no one walked me out to the car to do a once-over. I noticed damage on the exterior and dirt on the interior so I promptly took photos to cover myself. Overall the car was good on gas mileage and drop-off was seamless (easier than anticipated). Would definitely rent from Budget again :)

No walk-through/once-over of the car upon . Damage to exterior. Dirty interior. Needed a car wash. No auxiliary input.

Pros:

The guy at the desk was friendly and nice.

Cons:

The car was not ready when I got there. Had to wait 30 minutes to be able to go anywhere (others were waiting too). I had a work meeting to get to and thankfully I had booked the car early so I was able to still make it in time but it was unnecessarily stressful to have to wait.

They kept trying to upcharge us for everything! Our original price went from $140 to like $400 before I said no to all extra charges. The drop off location was also INCREDIBLY difficult to find.

The vehicle I reserved had an inoperative AC compressor. Alamo quickly substituted an equivalent vehicle but the new car was EXTREMELY dirty from the previous family and had not likely been cleaned by Alamo. I was in an rush to depart for our family trip so I could not take the time to have Alamo clean the car. During the course of the rental period, I detailed the interior which was filthy and washed the outside of the vehicle. As I was returning the car at Orlando International Airport, the attendant asked me if I was happy with the rental. I explained what happened and what I had done. He instantly apologized and then offered to compensate me with a discount on the rental. I was overwhelmed and shocked that he would offer that to me without my asking. It shows how serious Alamo is about customer satisfaction. I would rent from Alamo any time I am on travel. Keep up the great work!

This was the worst car experience I ever had. My reservation was for 12pm but the car rental agency is. closed from 12pm - 2pm. When we showed up at 2pm they said because it had been two hours the reservation was cancelled and the car was already resold. BUT ITS NOT POSSIBLE as they were closed so how did they sell the car. Anyway they almost ruined our vacation but luckily there was a RENT - A - CAR across the street with a super friendly staff and ended up being cheaper. NEVER USE ALAMO IN DAX

The pick up experience was a mess. They didn’t have the car I booked and then wanted to “upgrade” me to something that wasn’t going to work for what I needed the car for. Ultimately, it was resolved by the customer service rep, but it delayed my trip and caused much frustration.

Pickup and return of the rental car to the CVG Cincinnati airport was superb. Returning a car quickly is so important with the pressure of getting it done before the flight time. The staff I worked with at CVG was excellent both in picking up the car and returning it.

Car was good and price was great , although the waiting times to pick up the car was quite high since only one person was working. In addition the worst part was when the drop off occured where there was no physical person and the car park was full and there was no space to park the car safely, we called the appropriate number but there was no people speaking proper English to guide us had to leave the car in a bad way parked which stressed us as all sorts of issues could occur, can expect one floor of car park to accommodate all the rentals.

Loved the 2024 Subaru Outback and a dream car to drive with 7k miles. Last rental with Alamo 2 weeks ago was a old Malibu with too many miles and should be retired. First experience with Dollar and a 10 star everyone was so nice!

This would have been a good experience apart from two things: 1) the repeated pestering texts and e-mails insisting that I check in online in advance, which I tried to do but the system didn't work; and 2) HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I waited for over half an hour to speak to someone in India who was hard to understand and then in the end said she couldn't do anything to change my pick-up time because I had booked through a third party service, and gave me a non-functional phone number to try to reach the airport desk. What a pity. The car was fine and the airport pick-up staff were fine. But I will never use Dollar again because that company wouldn't let those people just do their job.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
